Hellow,
Does anyone know if I might be able to get funding for a braille display/notetaker of my own to use with the computer or on its own? Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding it really hard remembering stuff just relying on the jaws, so if I can read it with the braille display I might do a bit better. Not that business is that interesting anyway, but still ... I was also wondering if I might be able to get funding for jaws? I've e-mailed freedom scientific to ask them and they got back to me within a day and said I should e-mail sight and sound, but I don't know their e-mail address.
Thank you.
Does the commission help you? if so, i would talk to them if you have a caseworker of some sort. I'm not sure where you're from so I dont know how things like this work where you are, but there are organizations that hehlp with those kind of things. But as I said, I dont know where you're from, so I'm not sure how that would work for you. As for the Braille display, if you can justify that you'd do better with it, I dont see why you wouldn't be able to get one. Anyway, by all means, good luck with that!
Harmony:
From your profile, I see you are in the UK. Being from the states, I don't know a lot about how things work over there, but I know a lot of blind people in the UK have been able to get displays and such. You might want to start off by contacting the RNIB. www.RNIB.CO.UK
If they don't have the answer, they will certainly know which direction to point you in.
Hope this helps.
I tried calling the RNIB for help with it before and they kept putting me through to some person who was never there so I just got through to the voicemail. When they phoned me back, I kept missing the calls because I was at college and had the phone on silent, but I phoned them back only to find that it was the switchboard, so I had to do it all over again. Gurr'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r?? So I just gave up on them in the end. Thanks for that idea anyway.
